interior paint/dye question

Hi all. Maybe someone can help here.

I need to dye a dash pad for my 69 Biscayne Medium Blue interior. I am not finding anyone who is carrying 1969 medium blue. Classic Industries has a 1968 medium blue. However, I am not sure if this is the same.

1) Does anyone have any idea if the 1968 matches the 1969 Medium Blue?

2) If not, is there anyplace I can get the correct color mixed and if so what the code would be? (I have the codes for the upper dash, etc, but not sure if this encompasses the dash pad)

3) Not sure if you've seen a '69 medium blue interior, and I'm not sure if I've seen one in nice shape either, but it appears the dash pad is a little darker than the medium blues I am seeing (including the 1968 med blue at Classic Industries) Does anyone have good pics?

Find a Auto paint store that handles SEM products.....they can mix to match.......Get their Vinyl dye and make sure you use their cleaner/vinyl prep solvent before applying the dye....Just like new.....

Thanks Ken. I wonder if there's a code available for it somewhere. My dash pad is pretty trashed. I'm hoping I can get a good piece of it where the color is true to original.

I worked with Vinyl Industrial Paints a few years back to get the correct Pearl for my 70 Chevelle ivory interior.
I sent them a sample of the original seat material, and they took the time to come up with @ 3 samples for me to choose from...the best one was right on the money.
I see they now a have a website. give them a try.

Ppg has a specialty coatings brand that can be matched. I have had some great success with it on my dash and plastic parts. Most of the SEM products didn't even come close. Most vinyl and plastic products can be wiped with a 50/50 mix of alcohol and water. The plastics have to be wiped as well but an adhesion promoter needs to be applied before paint. A product such as bull dog works great!

----Light interior GM cars generally have a darker dash-pad. Thats to alleviate some of the glare inherent with light colors when the sun hits them. Back when I was 15 my buddie and I rattle-canned the dash on his 57 Ford white. Geez,,,What a mistake. Also reversed thew shackles so we would look CQQL, and added lakes-pipes that ended under the rear axle. We didnt know the floor was bad back there and almost gassed ourselves......Bill S

Thanks guys. I'll see what I can do. I guess my biggest hurdle could be getting a good sample of the color to match.
