Default '69 Yenko Auction

Just received an e-mail from Mecum with their feature car in next month's auction, a '69 HO Yenko Camaro. Does anyone here know the car/owner/history? An X-66 car, #579518 sold out of Joseph Chevrolet, Cincinnati, OH.

I believe that is the car that came out of the Cincinnati area in the early '90s, went to Minn, that owner was tragically killed in a snowmobile accident, went to Texas, Ron Vorhees who later died at a young age, may have been owned by Steve Sandlin who later sold it. Not a very good history for the owners of this car as a whole. William on the site will remember the car as having a roll cage in the early '80s.

I do.

Fellow pack rats can check out the color feature in the December 1982 Super Chevy magazine page 46. In the photos it has the roll bar, NK1 wheel, no tach, super shifter, kick panel speakers, Yenko emblem on the dash, rally wheels w/G70 Polyglas, line lock[?], headers. Has the '67 Corvette-style '427' badges.

alot of those cincinnati yenkos were street racers. Mr 702 would tell me 3 or 4 of them would be seen in frishes in NCH on a friday nite, a miles or 2 from joseph chevrolet.

Irwin had Harris restore that car in 06. It was a very clean car to refurnish.

Can anyone verify if this is an original drivetrain car?

Steve,

Back in '90 or so when Bob in Ohio had the car I got drivetrain #s as T0104MN, P9T12B, BE1119. Believed to be original but I don't know of anyone who has verified the drivetrain originality.

I would suggest you talk to Jerry MacNeish, I believe he has inspected the car.
