I own a pretty Ponti Convert. With a little 283 and a slipping power glide. I am going to step it up a notch. I had a fellow who had been drag racing for 30+ years build a power glide he swears will stand up to 800HP. ( he has some amazing drag cars with PGs so easy to believe ) And I just ordered a 496 cube/ 576 hp chevy BB . So now that the die is cast I'm hoping that the 10 bolt rear will hold up. I don't plan on doing any dead stop burnouts / just rolling get down the road crusing. I'm also putting 2" drop spindles and disc brakes on the front. A good aluminum rad.with fans. And from their my budget is about done.
What do you think about the 10 bolt rear holding up??? Woodie |

A two speed PG (read Fast and faster) will work just fine behind a BBC -- just make sure it's built right. A 10 bolt (8.5" gear) will work also -- just don't hang huge, sticky rubber on it ... will work fine for cruising as long as you do not abuse it. TAZ
