Looing for a code for Bc CC for 1968 Tripoli Turquoise
I see what appears to be multiple hues of the same color and was wondering which one was more correct to OEM ? Below are some picture's I found, with a link specific to the 68 L79 Nova of Rick Thayer in particular is the color I'm after. The Camaro pictured below look different than the Nova inthe link ?? https://www.hotrod.com/articles/1968...mageid=1038133 Thanks ![]()

I would say the Nova is more correct in color. Could be the lighting and angle of the pics that look different between the two.

You could put the same car picture up on three computers with the monitors side by side by side, and swear they were all different colors.
You really just need some paint samples in hand to compare.

you can not judge a colour by a pic . lights.... sun make a huge difference in what it looks like. if you have a panel with the colour you want some paint stores can colour match it with a scanner .

Also cars built at different times of the year might not be the same as yours. Remember GM was selling cars & not show cars, Try to match what still remains that is known original...Joe

For metallics I typically do the following -
I would take my 68 Dealer Album with the large paint chips to the paint vendor(finish masters) have it scanned and then have it color corrected to the scan using the pigments in the "book" formula. Make sure to tell them you DO NOT want any different pigments added-you want the formula corrected to the scan- trust me I made this mistake ONCE! FWIW I would also have them reduce the metallic by 20% - you can take the additional 20% in another can and add if you feel the spray outs do not look correct however I think you will find they are closer to original with less metallic. Have a half pint mixed like this and do a few spray outs to check color match, IF you have to correct the mix to perfect it - make sure to do your measurments using a gram scale not a measuring cup - FWIW - The information here has been acquired from a multitude of primary sources and best practices including my painting cars for show within the NCRS - which is VERY stringent on color, metallic content, as well as the actual application of paint -which is to appear as single stage lacquer. All this being said is that the same color as 69 Crystal turquiose or Azure turquoise? If so SYS member Bergy - (Bruce)has a 69 GTO conv in that color which was recently painted in base clear - I am sure he has a color code or a formulation.

The paint code from GM was KK I believe , although I think the second K meant no vinyl roof , so it may just be a single K ?? Thanks ![]()

4900L is the Lucite code
A-1993 is Rinshed-Mason, no idea how to contact them. I have tried several ways without success to get a modern code for Dark Fawn. 13517 is Ditzler, now PPG. They have a historic division your local paint store/rep can call to get the code to convert, IF they have done the work to convert it.
