I was looking at the feature car for March and I didn't notice any heater hoses. Is this car heater delete?
How did they sell a GM Canadian car without a defrost and be legal? I though they only did that for cars that shipped over seas. |

ALl three of my cars 67/68 & 69 RS's all are heater delete cars. One orginally from here in Hawaii the other two from the Southwest mainland (USA). I have never heard of a Heater being mandatory in order to make it legal to drive, no matter where it was shipped.

I drove a 1964 VW in Canada (Winnipeg)for years with no heater. It was mighty cold but perfectly legal!

The story (as I recall) on the heater delete is that there was a Gov. regulation stating that all cars starting in 1968 required a windshield defrost/defog system. The heater is part of the system. The 1967 Corvette L88s were heater delete but the 1968 L88s had heaters. I do not know if the defrost/defog Law was just continental USA or all states or if foreign sales were allowed a heater delete option. Does anyone have a window sticker or other documents from 68 or 69 with a heater delete option code? I don't know of any documented COPO 427 cars with heater delete option.

Of the 50 or so COPO Camaro's that came to Canada, I have never seen a documented heater delete one. I would be interested in seeing some documentation if they have it.

I always tell myself to learn at one thing new a day and you guys made me do that, but now I have to wonder why my 69 has Heater delete plates and no under-dash vents. My 68 (09C)was before Standard No 103 was in effect. It has no underdash ducting outside of the astro-ventalation.
Standard No. 103 -- Windshield Defrosting and Defogging Systems -- Passenger Cars, Multipurpose Passenger Vehicles, Trucks, and Buses (Effective 1-1-68) This standard specifies requirements for windshield defrosting and defogging systems [Edited by HawaiianCamaro (04-11-2002 at 05:56 AM).] [Edited by HawaiianCamaro (04-11-2002 at 06:50 PM).]
