Default ZL1 #4 update

The good news is that we have learned some of the history of ZL1 #4 from its original owner. After Fred Gibb returned it to Norwood, Hauser Chev acquired it. Evidently they couldn't sell it either so it became an East Coast NHRA racecar for the 1970 season. It was cleaned up, repainted and finally sold as a new/used car with a 396/402 early in 1971. It left PA for TX went to AZ, ID, finally WI. It was restored in 1989 with a correct engine. Basically it hasn't been outside since.

The bad news is that perhaps my assertion was incorrect. The alleged money-grubbing middleman called with his version of events. He stated he would have been happy to make the connection gratis had the owner called him. I had passed the info on to the current owner, an individual with serious responsibilities who cannot be bothered with trivial phone calls. For whatever reason, he did not call middleman.

At no time was payment requested. However middleman sat on the info at that point, despite repeated contact from the original owner. This created the impression that there was some element missing

For 4 months nobody connected until the he saw my post here and contacted me directly

The original owner has a wealth of info. He has sent vintage photos (too big..) of the car when Hauser raced it in PA, sponsored by Sabatine's speed shop.

William:

Unfortunately the trip was work related, so it was an up and back kind of thing. But, I do need to get back up that way...

So the current owner doesn't care to speak to the original owner and get accurate information on the car? Boy, that could hurt the value of the car in the future.

Dan's the one that did all the research and found the Hauser ads. I know he was never interested in any monetary gain for the work he did.
