Walter Peyton was great, but he never looked as good as this

------I hope Im not bursting anyones bubble here, but the reason that cars engine didnt have a VIN on it was because the engine didnt come in the car new. That engine came in a 1967 Excaliber(true story). The dates on the engine were even within a decent time frame for the car (very lucky indeed). The car is a true L-89,but the original engine was long gone.My buddies tri-power intake is on the engine today.Restoration guy was from Phoenix and while he can do good work the car looked like he sort of hurried things towards the end.I heard that he wasnt getting paid on a regular basis by then which could explain his apparent lack of interest towards the end.........Bill S......ol red!

When you speak of the engine not being original but him being "lucky" as the engine is within a (decent time frame). What is a decent time frame for the date between a engine casting date and a car production date?

------I think in the world of NCRS they allow up to 6 months prior to the build date of the car.It would be an unusual occurence to be that far ahead in my estimation.Id look for around a 3 month window myself.Cant remember the exact date on that engine, but it was within NCRS guidelines if my memory is working at all.......Bill S.....ol red!
