Default '69 Yenko in Canada for $9K

Let me know if you get tired of these scams, but I feel some of these Yenko F-bods HAVE to belong to one of the guys here on SCR.

Anyone know who owns this?

Why not combo this with the $2700 L78 Nova, also in Canada and you have the ultimate "hat trick"? Haven't bashed Ebay in a while, but why can't they stop this kind of nonsense?

Wilma,

The reason this stuff happens on eBay is that they really
don't care one way or the other! Think of the $$ they make
every day. If 50 people a day list bogus auction, and that
is probably quite conservative, eBay gets that little listing fee regardless - right?

Now, eBay has been notified thousands of times by now about
sham auctions like this one. All they do is shut it down!
But, only if we ( the eBay community ) find out and shout
about it! What a great place for them to be.

So let's look at it another way. If you had a business and
some "people" were using your business to do sham sales,
what would you do? At the least, you'd find a way to stop
such things from happening again. It's not good for your
business - right? Aaahh! Unless you get a deposit into
your account for using your name. Well, sort of. You see
my point. EBay can just sit on the mountain and blame the
unethical sellers. I've been down this road with eBay many
times.

So, if eBay wanted to stop this stuff, they would institute
fraud procedures to thwart this activity. One such measure
could be an escrow type account for new sellers, or sellers
that have "questionable" items. A probation period, if you
will.

That's just a fast example for you. I'm sure others here
could come up with lots of great ideas on this subject.

The point is simply this: EBay is in this to make money.
And, they are making tons of it! I doubt they really care.

Steve

Steve, I have to disagree with you on that. All of these scammers use stolen accounts to list the cars. When they are shut down, Ebay can't bill the real account owner for the auction. So Ebay does not get any fees from the auctions. At least that's the way I think it happens.

As a follow up, I contacted Classic Dream Cars. Apparently this is an on going problem for them. Secondly, I e-mailed the owner, who is supposedly only 15 miles away. I wanted to arrange to see the car today. You guessed it. No response. Thirdly, E-bay seems to have pulled the ad.

Im not sure how it works, but i would imagine that e-bay is making money regardless of who is actually selling the car. Lets get real, any buisness that cares about their customers would find a way to stop this from happening. There has to be some reason why they let it continue.

I don't even have to e-mail him. Peterborough is about 15 miles away. I'm sure he will be more than willing to show me the car. Boy, do I ever have a head start on the rest of you guys. Might even be able to tell him a thing or two about COPO cars.
Well, look at this www.classicdreamcars.com Asking price $185K. Same pictures even. I wonder if these guys know about this Peterborough deal.
