I know this is probably a long shot, but here goes anyway...I am buying a '70 LS6 Chevelle and wondered if anyone has any engine pad stamping pics or rubbings they could post or email me to compare stampings with the motor in the car I am buying? It is an Atlanta car built in mid January with an M22. Thanks in advance for any help any of you can provide this newbie to the LS6 world

I think this is an assembly line motor that was sold as an over the counter crate motor. It was never stamped with a vin and is coded as a 450/454 with an auto trans assembled on the 11th day of March '70. Notice the use of the "I" as the second "1" in the 11.

This is a 450/454 coded as a 4 speed assembled on the 10th of March '70 and installed in my Kansas built car. I realize these are not from the same plant as the car you are buying but the hp code and assembly dates are all stamped at Tonowanda. Hope this helps.
