Default SupernovaSS's 65 Nova SS ..as found

This one is going to be sweet when it's completed...65 Nova SS is my favorite pre-68...you don't see many 65's...
BA/62...

This is a 1965 SS I bought from the original owner. Sharron, the original owner, bought this car brand new from Gateway Chevrolet in Daly City, California. Her father cosigned for her on the car for a total of $3900. After looking over the car I knew it was what I was looking for right down to the color. The only knock against the car was that it is a powerglide rather than a four speed. When I asked Sharron why she bought an automatic she responded she really wanted the 4 speed, but the only one on the lot was maroon with gold interior(time for a new purchasing manager at the dealer). I made an offer on the car and was told another gentleman called on the car before me; Sharron wanted to give him first shot since he had an appointment for that afternoon. I upped my offer, only to hear she still wanted to give the other guy a shot. I decided I was just throwing money away at this point and asked her to call me after she showed the car. She called me that night to tell me the other guy was a no show, but called for a new appointment the next day. Again, he flaked out which made Sharron comfortable making a deal with me over the phone. When I showed up to pick up the car the husband welcomed me with cursing and yelling. He told me to go home and never come back! I was shocked, since a few days earlier he acted like he didn't care what she did with the car. I stood there and tried to gather the reason he had turned 180 since just a few days prior. After taking the abuse for about 10 minutes with mouth shut and ears open(it was rough), he told me I better go see Sharron. Once all the paperwork was done I went back to the garage to load the car onto the trailer. The husband had cooled down a bit by then and slowly told me his story on the car as we freed the brakes and loaded it onto the trailer. It turns out the day Sharron bought this Nova was the same day they met eachother. He had just moved to San Francisco from Italy and learned to drive in this Nova. After the car was loaded he appologized for the outburst and told me he had something for me. He pulled out an extra hubcap he had for the car and told me he had no use for it. I told him that he did have a use for it and hung it on his garage wall. He smiled, nodded and shook my hand.
The Nova came with the original financing contract, all registrations from 65 to current, protecto plate and original title. It was bought new in Daly City(South San Francisco) and never left town. 10 years ago the block cracked at the top of #6 cylinder and it has sat in a garage since. While looking thorugh the old registrations something caught my eye. In 1965 the car was registered in Sharron's maiden name; in 66 it was registered in her married name. No wonder he was so attached to the car, he fell in love with both of them at the same time!

Very cool ride and great story. I used to have one of those 20 years ago and really miss it. There is a green '65 with gold interior in town for sale and I am tempted to pick it up. These old IIs are great little cars. Post some pics when you get this one done.

I think the 65 is the best looking of the first gen, I like the post cars over the coupes. But that is one sharp looking 65.
