Default Another of my old cars goes for big $ without me!

Ok, now this is getting ridiculous. After my old yellow 71 hemicuda ragtop, the two 71 440 six-barrel Cuda ragtops, my old 71 hemi sunroof Charger R/T and now this one, my old 69 hemi Daytona that I restored in 1990 and sold in 1996

http://www.mecumauction.com/auctions/lot...ID=FL0106-33389

Went for $614,250 at Mecum in January. I think I now have the record as the idiot who has sold the most million dollar cars long before they were worth a million dollars, than anyone else on the planet.

Nice of them to give credit to Otis: I bought the car as a ragged project car from him back in 1989. This was the car that had the wrong year engine in it that is now in my 70 R/T-SE Charger: the engine that turned out to be from the next hemi car built after my 70 Charger! At least something good came from that car.

Well Steve, 'tis better to have loved and lost than to have never loved at all.

Those wheelcovers on the Daytona are right on! What are those called--turbines? Way cool and probably the first items tossed in the dumpster when the car was new.

Cool Daytona. I feel for the new owner cause the car needs to be redone...

Yeah, those hubcaps were very hard to find. They only came on the Deluxe Wheel Cover Optioned 15" wheels on hemi cars and some Dodge pick-up truck applications. I searched for years and then found 8 of them at the most bizarre location: I went to the "hubcap store" five miles from my house and they had two sets. I paid $100 for all 8! That's a lesson to everyone: always check the most obvious place first.

Hey Rich, did you find me someone with a hemicuda and cash to trade for the charger?

Non of business Steve. But if I had that Hemi-Charger. It would be difficult to let it go! They better have alot of cash with that Cuda!

Hey, ya never know. I've had a bunch of cudas over the years but never a purple one. I think my ideal car (and a lot of other people's I'd imagine) would be a '70 Hemicuda in FC7 In-Violet with a white interior and a four speed. That and a bunch of cash might pry the Charger's pistol grip out of my hand.

Rich do you have any photos from the auction? I guess ten years and a bunch of owners probably took their toll on the car.

Steve, just make sure your next hemi car has better highway gears than the Charger! You have to be able to drive it more!

Any news on the TA? You haven't posted about it since March!

No update on the T/A as there has been no progress at the body shop since I dropped the sheetmetal off and I am getting somewhat frustrated at the moment.

I also have been getting the wife's 87 IROC tuned up and cleaned up and ready for her to drive. Now that it's done, she doesn't want to drive it and defers to me whenever we go somewhere. I guess that's good for me as it's really a fun (and suprisingly fast) car. It will spin the tires well into second gear (for an automatic that's pretty impressive).

It turned out the car is a lot rarer than I initially thought. Chevy only made 12,105 L98 engined IROC Z's in 1987, the first year for that engine. In addition they only made 3,052 yellow Camaros in total, out of the entire production run of 137,760. Chevy doesn't have a breakdown for yellow L98 IROCs but I'd imagine it's probably in the low hundreds.

Anyway, I just want to make sure that if I ever sell it that I sell it early enough before it's worth anything so I won't jeodardize my perfect losing streak.

My wife seems to have a different opinion on that matter!
