Default Another Ebay hacking!!! Read if you Sell!!!

Check this auction of mine 230042221042
I received a question through Ebay that asked something like, "Can you confirm that this item is the same as the one listed here". Following that, there was an http link that APPEARED to be on Ebay. I searched the link, and I got hacked!!
all my previous bidders got cancelled and the auction went back to the starting bid with only 6 hours left. I could not end it early, cancel it or even put in a buy it now for a buddy to click and end it. I was able to answer questions and post a Warning response, even though I got a warning message from ebay stating that I could not post answers with less than 12 hours to go. Somehow they posted, thank goodness. I've also been getting questions from other sellers of pool tables and cues, stating that they could get the link to work. So, their replies to this dirtbag were being sent to me!

There ought to be a way of getting in touch with Ebay in a HURRY when something like this happens, rather than reporting it and getting a message that it might take 24hrs for them to respond!! I wonder if I'll get charged when I relist....??

Verne, I know a couple times in the past Rick Peters ('mr70') has posted on here a phone number for eBay. Not sure if it would help in your situation, but it couldn't hurt. Good luck.

Default Addendum

Well, last night I had a phone call from the "winning" bidder. It was very unplesant and sometimes heated and went on for almost an hour. He had all kinds of his own reasons why I should honor the end of the auction in his favor. He told me that he had received an email from one of the other bidders stating that I had emailed him and said I'd sell the wheels for a very low number. This was not true at all. He also said (a few times) that he believed I was "up to something else", but he couldn't figure out what it was. That was when MY dander stood up at attention! My single main and simple point was that the auction had been molested by an outside party with very little time to go, so it would only be fair to everyone to declare it void. He finally agreed to let ebay settle it.
I tried the phone numbers but only got left on hold and finally told to try the live chat. It turned out to work fine. I got to "converse" with a woman who reviewed the entire auction and sequence of events. She said the auction was definitely void due to 3rd party interference. She also agreed to contact the "buyer" and inform him, as well as ALL of the bidders to explain what happened! That was a relief. I won't be charged for the listing. Minutes later the auction went away from my list and I was able to re-list. I was finally able to untie the knots in my stomach.
This morning I received an email from him saying that he's not always right and in this case he must have been wrong. Then he said if I relist, he'd still like to bid and hoped there were no hard feelings.......

sorry for the long post, but I just wanted you guys to know how it turned out. It's nice to have friends and helpers here..

Happy things worked out for you Verne! .

Isn't the thing that saved your butt that the hacker didn't change your password when he had the chance? .

Happy eBaying!? .

I feel violated, like if someone broke into my house or tapped my phone. It doesn't appear that this guy tried to steal the auction and try to get away with a quick buy it now profit. He's just mentally defective. He's getting his jollies at my expense.
Now what happens when I relist? Do the potential buyers, (who've spent 7 days of their time watching it), just decide it's too much aggravation?
Well, as I said, seemingly against Ebay's policy, I was able to post questions with answers that alerted people to what happened and stated that the auction would be VOID even if the reserve was met. I hope Ebay supports me on that. It WAS stated in the listing before it ended.

Ken, it's like one topic we discussed in the parking lot at SCR9. Why do we have to put up with these type of people in a hobby that we want to share with only honest people? Sometimes it sure takes the fun out of it.
I know I didn't have to ask that question. We all know why.............................

I've gotten those PayPal emails, and I've never used or signed up for PayPal.
Just more spam to me!

I am following an auction on a Camaro the ends shortly and I saw that happen, the bids all were cancelled and went back to $100. It says the car sold and all bids were retracted. Strange.

I get this one all the time:

"Dear PowerSeller,
Congratulations on becoming a Bronze PowerSeller! You'll find that the more you use this program, the more you'll benefit. You will have access to the special services we provide and also be able to network with other successful PowerSellers."

Confirm your identity !

The email was VERY convincing....
Problem is, I'm already a powerseller, and their links don't go to ebay.
Someone wants to steal my password.

I get that one at least once a week....
Get emails every week requesting information, from banks I don't have accounts at.

Like a virus.
The scammers are looking to ding you anyway they can.

Be very carefull before typing any information into anything.
