Default Bullit - the Chase (Steve McQueen)

The chase scene is great, but take a good look at all the classic cars as he is driving through the city, lots of Pontiac's (GTO's,Firebird) and Cadi's. - Old Ford Fairlanes - cool.

Those seven speed Mustangs and eight speed Chargers were truly rare back in the seventies.......

Still one of the best car chases ever....I like when they put on the seat belt.. ...The 440 drove like it was on ice..but in a straight line....lookout! Great stuff filmed at high speed long before todays computer generated crap..Oh yeah....That Ford was bad A$$....

I moved from the city of S.F. in 2003, and it was still a rolling car show out there when I left. On the other side of the Haight, there was a '68 Charget R/T parked on the street that I used to ride my motorcycle by every day-- One day it wasn't there anymore. Clapped out, dents, and needing a complete cosmetic restoration, but rust-free...

There are all sorts of cool cars in the city, mostly cars that are under the radar like old Datsun 510's, BMW's of all sorts, VW's, etc... A friend of mine had a '62 T-Bird that he drove every day.

Depending on what part of the city your're in, though, cars will rust terribly. I passed up a '69 RS Camaro before I moved: LeMans blue, A/C, 350 4-speed, original owner. It was rough (EVERY panel needed to be addressed/replaced, including the roof), but it was all there.

I love this then-and-now site:

http://www.rjsmith.com/bullitt-locations.html

I've gone to many of these locations when I have SF layovers and have a rental car.

Anyone spot the Capri Cream/black top '67 Camaro in the movie? Just think, everything in California was "black plate" in those days!
