Looking for my dads old car,"69 COPO Camaro RS", Burnished Brown 4spd,No spoiler or vinyl top and no floor console. Bought in East Detroit Michigan at Merollis Chevrolet from a salesman named Dick Jesse. Protecto-Plate would have the name Mike Stivason.Mike Says a guy called him about 6yrs ago claiming to have the car minus the engine and a few other parts and had been repainted a different color. My dad bought the car from Mike several weeks after he bought it new, they apparenty ordered it as a ZL1 and it came in as a L72 and plans for an all out drag car went out the window, so My dad took the car and street raced it until 1972 when he sold it in Roseville Michigan.I attached a pic of the car shortly after he got it and did a few mods. If anyone has info on this car please email me @ [email protected] , If the car is not for sale I would still love to know its whereabouts and would be willing to help track down parts and put it back together, I have been looking for this car for over 20yrs. Ken

That is a great picture!! Wasn't a Burnish Brown RS COPO for sale at that Florida place awhile back? Didn't Black Ties Classics in NJ also broker that brown COPO?

Thanks for all the posts guys!! I was told that a guy named Mitch in KY may know of a car like this one but i have not got in touch with him as of yet. My dads car was found with a small block and missing some pieces and painted a different color :-( according to what he told Mike. The car would be fairly easy to ID i think with the POP and the welding underneath that my dad did (almost signature) and slight folds to the quarter in fron of the tire for the bigger tires etc..

I distinctly remember a new burnished brown ZL1 on the showroon floor at Merollis Chev. It was sitting right in front of the parts counter. It was no console, no vinyl top. I can't be sure if it had a spoiler or if it was an RS. That sticker price was a real shocker in those days. It sat there for quite a while.

There were no Burnished Brown ZL1 cars.
Merollis did have the distincion of having the most ZL1's stolen off of their lot. None were ever recovered.
