![]() I don't know what it's from without researching, but I wouldn't rule it out as a restamp automatically. You can see the end of the assembly stamp and the vin looks complete. From what I can see of the broach, it looks like it's there. The stamp looks deep, like a nice factory hit. I'm not endorsing the stamp, just not ruling it out, either. |

I have seen VIN numbers stamped with different size fonts. The workers would throw in what they had and stamp away. This was seen quite a bit at the Van Nuys plant. Looks good to me.

It's for a 69 Chevelle.
I've just never seen a stamp start with two 1's for any Chevy in that time frame, or different size fonts. I agree the rest looks good. |

Paul [/ QUOTE ] Rick, Have seen this before too. Had a O. Gold L78 '69 Chevelle from Framingham with mixed fonts. Broaching on pad was correct and the clincher was that the same stamp with same oddities was found on the M21.

When something looks that bad it has to be OK.

I wouldn't rule that one out either..
Besides the trans stamp as Sam noted, if it was important enough it could be worth looking for other known Vins in the range to compare?. ~ Pete ![]()
