Default I need some help with block numbers

Hello everybody! I am new here and looking for some help, I have a 3963512 block dated e239--may 23 1969--- there is no vin nubers by the oil filter area and on the front by pass head area there is only a 7 stamped there and nothing else, there looks like there is no deck clearance marks from machine work done, the area has pits in the metal and even has it by the number 7, the 7 is deep enough to catch your finger nail....... So can you guys help me out, thanks Alex from kansas city

Hi, Look on the pad where the starter bolts for any stampings, if it is an over the counter block it will be stamped there, is it a 2 bolt or 4 bolt.

The "512" was a 427 and 454 block used in a lot of hipo Vettes, Camaros, and Chevelles. It should be a 4 bolt block but without the assembly date stamp on the front passenger side pad, it could be difficult to tell just how it was used. If it has two oil cooler line ports by the oil filter, it usually means it's a 4 bolt block.

Hey Alex,

Casting 3963512 with a date code e239 is a 1969 427 block.
