I guess the Obvious would be to ask around Carneys point NJ. Maybe stop and see if the buiness is still around. Ask at another Body Shop, maybe an older policeman etc...

Yea, you would think with the billboard on the side of it that it would be pretty easy, but nobody seems to remember the shop or the car. The VIN numbers were also pulled off, and it had alot of wierd experimental suspension work done to it. I just figured I would post and maybe someone would remember it.

How cool! Whatever you do, please do NOT repaint it.
This car has history, the last thing it needs is a cookie-cutter restoration!

PS- This is coming from a guy who owns a '66 Corvette with an NCRS Duntov Award...

John;
Was the frame still spaced from the body when You got it ? It was when I first looked at it. I was given that lead by a guy in carneys point . Glad You getting somewhere.

Any known history on the car such as last time it was raced, where it was frequently raced? You might try contacting the track to see if they have any old photos or race history on the car. I agree that it should not be repainted / restored; it's way too cool as it sits to be put back to original condition.

I just talked to a friend tonight who lived in Carney's Point all his life, and he never heard of Joe's Paint & Body. But he DID recognize the type of paint graphics as being a trademark of a guy named Bobby Casto from down there. He's going to ask around and see if he can digup anything else. HE did say Bobby was reported to have cancer a few years ago, so he's not sure he's still around. Anyway, that's another lead for you to work on. Good luck.
By the way, it'a pretty obvious by the paint on the hood that the car was racing without a tunnel ram at first.
