..... after an exceptionally long spell of great people to deal with on Ebay, I must've been overdue to get a jerk.
Sorry but I feel a vent coming on..... ![]() I had an auction for a defroster duct that I know fits a 69 Camaro and 68-79 Nova. I mentioned that it may fit a 67-68 Camaro because I didn't know any better at the time. However, I did include the part number and a picture. This way, someone could check if they needed to. Some guy from the Brentwood, CA area buys it, and then complains that it won't fit his '68 Camaro and now he'll have to repair his original part (that he apparently didn't compare to mine regarding the appearance or part number before buying it). He sent a note expressing his unhappiness and the terrible inconvenience and demaned a refund or to trade for something else. I promptly provided a refund with the expectation of getting the part back. It seemed simple and fair enough. After ignoring emails for a few days, he now he needs to 'make a decision on whether he will be sending it back or trading it or reselling it to make a profit'. Basically, this guy has the part AND his money and is preceeding to be difficult about it. We're not talking huge dollars (~ $50), but it's important to me, and it seems to be thievery to keep both the part and money. I have no recourse on the feedback system because I always leave a positive for people as soon as they pay. They've done their part by paying, so it only seems fair. He paid, he got a positive. He was unhappy, I gave a no-questions-asked refund and said send it back. Now he's being a jerk about it. ![]() Are there any good words of advice out there? Thanks for listening. Allen

I have not been hosed yet, but I am sure my time will come too. It's probably not a great idea to post feedback just on payment, like in your case, now you might not have any recourse.
When I send out something I will send the buyer a notice that there stuff is on the way, and ask that they post positive feedback if all is well, I tell them that is my heads up there happy, and I state I will post there feedback ASAP. Some people are just JERKS no matter what. Press on ! Mike |

Did you refund his payment after he submitted a Ebay or paypal claim? If so, a tracking number must be provided before the refund is made. Otherwise I would consider it a learning experience and move on. Please PM me his info so I can try to avoid dealing with this jack.

Was it transacted through paypal? I have had 2 of these experiences and through the Paypal dispute process I have been made whole. Without them I know I would have ate the money. My 2 cents.

I feel for you Allen, I never sell on E-Bay, all my dealings were purchaes. I finally got a Jerk, he sold me his junk, totally misrepresented his listing. The Jerk would not make it right and yeah it was only about 50 bucks as well, it's the principle.

I typically wait at least 30 days before providing feedback.

If your going to sell on E-bay consider the occasional a-hole as a cost of doing business. I sold some old Sun equipment, an old timing light and meter for under $50 a couple of months ago. The shipping cost about $15. I was paid quickly, shipped the next day and left positive feedback.
About two weeks later I start getting e-mail's questioning when I shipped the items. Having not requesting insurance my options with the post office were limited. After another week of his accusing e-mails I noticed he had a Florida address. Pulling up his pay pal payment I saw the address he gave me was in Michigan. It turned out he moved about six months before and had not changed his pay pal info. Stupid me for not knowing this. I contacted him and asked what is your correct address. Well it wasn't the Michigan address or the Florida address it was something all together different. I let him know as soon as his package came back I would reship it immediately. Many more accusing e-mails followed. It eventually came back - postage due. I let him know the cost of the return and reshipping and he said he would mail me a check right away. Being a nice guy I took him at his word and reshipped his stuff. Well you know the end of the story - no check ever came and he never even left me feedback. Thanks for the opportunity to rant I feel better now!

I think I can top this one...
not that I wanted to, but this just happened to me I saw a 1995 Dodge 3500 ramp truck on ebay, didn't make reserve, so I called him and made a deal after auction ended... sale clearly states 59,xxx miles, his invoice to me says 59,230 miles, he says it's original and all the drivetrain is original... he's a legitimate NC used car dealer so I take him for his word... fly my guy there, pay the dealer, and we drive it back, and for grins have local Dodge dealer scan computer since truck looks like more miles than claimed... also has 5 open recalls against it... low and behold the computer says it REALLY has 246,856 miles or just a small 185,600 mile discrepancy... born with ECM, never tampered with, no footprints.... also has a reman engine with a legit Mopar tag, seller says that's impossible, so I get a signed certification from my dealer stating the ACTUAL vehicle mileage, I also got an open MSO on a truck that's 12 years old, owned by 4 different car dealers, and never titled anywhere.. seller says it has clean Carfax, I counter saying that's impossible, because it has never been titled for Carfax to check it out and verify it now, what would you guys do in this instance?? I also have an additional 4k worth of work done AFTER I got it, and before the ridiculous mileage discovery. I'm out about $15,500 at this point I'm ready to sic the NC DMV and fed's on this guy... JH sorry to hijack someone else's thread, please feel free to move it to a new topic if necessary...
