I've done a few of these, but not recently since I discovered Steve Gregori at BrakeBoosters.com as he has the tools and the technique down to a science..
But if you want to try it yourself, once it's off the car & you strip everything off of it,master cyl.,rear push rod ,etc.,stabilize it with the front end of it firmly facing down on a workbench. You then press down on the backside of the housing,(firewall end),while rotating it Counter Clockwise until the rear lances align with the cutouts in the front. It should then become 2 seperate pieces. If it's not budging, try tapping the perimeter ends with a plastic mallet gently.A word of caution here,if you break any of the tangs along the outer edge, you'll have to replace the entire shell it broke off of.I used to grind the lance tangs down flush with the front shell before disassembly to try to aid in seperation and avoid breakage. Be careful as there is spring tension in there,so once seperated it's gonna want to jump out at you.Just maintain downward presuure while disassembling. Becareful not to loosen/damage the studs in the front shell,or put any pressure on the rear plastic piston extension either. The do make 3 special tools for this,if you want to look for them to help considerably. #J-22805 Vacuum Booster holding fixture #J-22893 Vacuum Booster seperating adapter for tilted mount #J-9504 Vacuum Booster spanner wrench |

I'm with Rick...Let Steve do it. He does a great job rebuilding and replating the booster, prop valve bracket and master cyl cap for one price.

Where did you get the rebuild kit from? I am redoing mine right now, got it apart, but can't find a source for the kit.
