To be honest, I'm gonna step up to the plate and say what many people are thinking. Those are good looking wheels.....but not on that car. That new Retro Nickey Camaro needs some kind of updated Retro wheel. Like the large diameter Cragars S/S's on your red Bill Thomas 2002 Camaro, the modern-looking Torque Thrusts that came on Bullitt Mustangs and other GT's, the Magnum 500 copies on the Mach 1 Mustangs a few years ago and even the new Shelby GT500 has wheels that are reminiscent of old Shelby wheels. Heck, I think Hurst even has a modern version of their famous forged wheels from the Sixties. It would be neat, and expensive for sure, if you could could come with another updated, modern version of a classic and popular wheel from the Sixties and have it be a Nickey exclusive. A lot of people are watching this first Camaro 'build' and it needs something special at all four corners.

Just something new and different.

We have been working with American Racing since the on set of the NicKey Super Camaro project, in order to design a wheel which looks like a Vintage Style TTO, which will also fit on the 2010 SS Camaro.

American Racing has recently experienced some business changes, at many levels, but it seems that things have settled down a bit and that we are back on track.

We have been promised a Proto-type set a wheels, per our design for a longtime, but they just never showed up.

The latest news is that they are going to make the "Nickey" Style wheel, with rough center spokes, in light Grey, (just like the TTO) along with NicKey center caps.

The Curve of the Spoke will be more pronounced than the Torque Thrust "M" in order to clear the large brake calipers. This has been a major design hurdle.

The NicKey Style wheel will be 20" tall in widths of either 8.5" and 9.5" or 9.0 and 10" wide. We would like to have the wider wheel since it fits, as well as if the esthetics work.

We should have 100/the first run of these wheels, in 45 to 60 days.

We would like to have a lip which looks similar to the Lorenzo "Modern" Wheels, in the pics posted above.

As far as the "Modern" look wheels, they are certainly not for everyone. We have been experimenting with style, fit and size. They are 20"s 8.5" and 10" wide.

The modern wheels have been well received thus far, and we have allready taken orders for several sets.

My Nickey Camaro is going to roll with the American Racing wheels and will look very much like our rendering.

Steve,

As you well know, we share a taste in what your new cars should look like. But I understand you need to cater to the varying tastes of your customers. As with the 2002 ZL-1 cars, most customers chose the Cragar wheels but there were some who chose the Fiske and other styles.

Nice job on offering choices.... but you, Mark and I know what looks best.
