Maybe they hacked someone else's Paypal account? Then once Paypal finds out they probably take the money back out of your account but your motor is already long gone.

Most of the time they just send you an email that LOOKS like it is from paypal stating you have received the money. They have the logo down pat.

They are hoping you never actually check to see that payment cleared.

There is a guy overseas who uses the name Jordan David. Do an internet search. He is always out of the country and says he is a marine engineer or a petroleum engineer or something similar and that he is buying the item for his dad or his brother or his son.

Normally, anyone suggesing any particular type of payment before you have even made a deal is a scammer.

The only way you are protected by Paypal as a seller is to take funds as "Friends and Family" option,
This has no fees and is exactly like getting cash, once you get it the buyer can't re-claim it.
If buyers send money with Paypal the normal way you are never covered as a seller, it is easy to buy a Car-Motor Etc.... and pay in full when a few weeks down the road the jackass has a complaint with Paypal, He gets a full refund and you are fighting Paypal or the buyer in court to get your item back.
A very easy Scam for anyone to do.
The classic scam is when you shipp something without a Tracked package to a buyer and they lie and say they never got it which equals a free item for the buyer and there money back.

Excellent response! You also could have added "and please continue your outstanding use of improper English grammar so that you can continue to be a dead giveaway scammer."

I don't know if OP's guy is a scam or not but people should not immediately discount every possible transaction as a scam. I have sold a ton of high dollar stuff overseas to people who I thought at first were "funny" and they later turned out to be great repeat customers.

1. In regards to the poor grammar I have read some very poor grammar from medical Doctors and people with MBA's.. I work with very educated clients every day and the grammar in emails I receive from them is often atrocious. My grammar is not the best either.

2. In regards to the purchasing agent a friend sold a antique 1956 Harley to a guy in Japan several years back and everything was done through a purchasing agent who took care of every aspect of the transaction from money wire transfer to shipping and packing-sent out 2 guys who spent nearly a whole day crating it up.

Some people do not have the time or effort to proceed with a transaction and will pay a PA to take care of everything.
