I was at the Lane Automotive Car Show today in Watervliet MI and stumbled across ZL-1 #47. They also had a dyno challenge and a cackle fest. The 71 Monte Carlo won the dyno challenge with a pull of over 1,700 hp and the 70 Chevelle was second with a pull of over 1,300 hp. Bill Porterfield also had his 68 Camaro Dick Harrell team funny car there. It sounded wicked running on 100% Nitro.

It's my understanding that Don Hardy built the car for Jim Kirby in 1968 and he teamed up with Harrell for the 1968 and 1969 seasons. The car received it's current paint job in 1969 to match Harrell's 69 Camaro funny car. I believe Matt Murphy purchased the car from Kirby in 2003 and then Bill Porterfield purchased it from him in 2009. Bill Porterfield is from Williamston MI.
