When you race on a track and you take a spill there are gravel traps and hay bales to soften the fall.If you fall off here you are toast 'cause your gonna hit a house or fence!More guts than brains maybe?

The "shakes" are what get me. In 1985 I had a big Suzuki (GS1100E) go into a violent shake late one night on a lonely stretch of road at about 126 mph. Didn't quit shaking until I got her down below 100. I was wearing a helmet, but no other safety gear, just tennis shoes, T-shirt and jeans. Freaked me out.
Parked it on the side of the road, sat on the curb and watched my knees literally hitting each other because I was so shook up. A buddy had been bugging me for months to buy that bike. At the time it was one of the fastest production bikes available (0-100 and back to 0 in 10 seconds). I sold it the next morning and didn't sit on a bike again for almost 10 years.

The Isle of Man Tourist Trophy races are a definite thrill to watch.
It's so much different than Land Speed racing on a motorcycle, at least at Bonneville where the traction is never positive and the ruts in the salt & dirt(El Mirage) can be exciting. At those speeds if you think you need to make a correction on the course, it's already to late. Ask me how I know. Dicky
