Default 4 Speed Chrome Shifter Ball with Shift Pattern?

When I picked up my one 1969 Camaro 4 speed console car this chrome 4 speed shifter ball was in the console. I know this ball is not correct because it has the shift pattern on it and all of the Camaro console cars where solid chrome. It is heavy like the original ones were and had it rechromed. I was told it might be for a 1966-67 corvair? Any help one what it is for and a value would be appreciated. I do have pictures of it but do not know how to post them on this site.

If it has a set screw it's an aftermarket knob.

It does have the set screw on the side of it and has the heavy weight which made me think it was original. If so what is the correct application for it?

It was a universal piece sold through parts stores, JC Whitney, speed shops, etc. Real knobs had a 3/8-16 thread pattern with no set screw.

I have had a few of these and they are surprisingly nice and heavy.

Dennis
Just a comment about OE 69 Camaro chrome shifter balls, the OE balls were cast aluminum or some type pot metal and were much lighter than what you see in todays repop balls, and there very $$$. Occasionally I see NOS ones on ebay.

Does anybody have an idea of what this shifter ball is worth?
