eBay Motors auctions....

Greetings!
I was just cruizin eBay motors and it came to my mind to me that I feel maybe it's about time to discuss that our hobby should gather the minds and assemble a new or hobby oriented auction site for our parts, cars, & misc. car related only items.
Im hitting my regular pages and it seems now these days that the specific items I choose to find are being overrun by "car covers" for sale-for example(new accessories, & etc.!);ie: Nova parts pages I was going thru. I mean, it took an extra what 5 or 6 pages added to the typical used orig parts for sale. I think I spent an additional 10 minutes just skipping pages that bombarded my desired searches I typically look in.
I wonder with all the goin's on now with the success of eBay, what they are over 250% profit lately; even making the Big 3 look unsuccessful. I figure there is more of us than eBay desires to assemble a reputable hobby specific auction site promoting our beloved passions!

Think about it. Even if a new auction site was started for collector car parts only, it would still eventually be overrun by with ads selling Die Cast, Car Covers and what all. Just narrow your search and weed through it. It's the fault of those Ebay sellers listing their parts in the wrong section. If there were a way to control THAT, ebay would be a much narrower avenue.

Yes, I agree that some sellers do list items in the improper areas, Id suggest obviously for maximum exposure. But, Im not into making my auction hobby a visit thru WalMart to cipher thru all the @#*#@ just to locate the items Id rather look at! I , too, isolate as much as possible my search titles, but maybe , I think, with all the web/techy folks available who write programs that with enough support, an online auction site that is hobby specific and controlled better, would greatly offer us all a better medium alike what Hemmings originally assembled years ago in their motor news swap meet books.
I sit down frequently with a friend and consider all of the swap meets we go to and try to conjure up that an online site could be proposed and built to mimick even what swap meets attempt to accomplish! I mean, it was our initial searches, of success and many failures to find the desired parts, that swap meets originally transpired, no?
Alike this site, 'sYc' had enuff wisdom to observe that departments should be clarified, and segrigated(sp) to topics of interest. As well, this "Lounge", for example, to have a place to do even this discussion.

Agreed! I myself have missed out on several items, even those as well desribed and listed as your auctions are.
Ive looked into the initial costs of web site starting; $5K was a rough estimate and Im sure there are things legally that would need to be sorted out in order to initiate a new auction place...even so, as I recall, I believe eBay has a TM on their auction design; although at one pointe I heard they were sued by a group who claimed eBay ripped off their idea and layout.... Some of the people on e bay just put in all type of words,for instance I was looking for 67 chevelle items,one guy had 1967,chevelle,nickey,dodge,plymouth and just all kinds of search words.E bay needs to limit all that crap.Just my 2 cents worth.But on the other hand I have ran across some nice items just from mispelling a search word,you will be surprised what you can find.
