Default 1967 Chevelle SS

I have a question about a car that is currently owned friend of my brother. The car used to belong to one of our former brother-inlaws whom is now deceased. It is a triple black 1967 Chevelle SS with a 427ci engine with a four speed. Were any of the specialty dealers putting these engines in Chevelles in '67? The car is currently in Ontario Canada but I was told that it came from the USA originally and I believe it was from MD area but am not sure about that. I will try to get the VIN number from my Brother's friend and post it here. Anyway I was just wondering if it could be very rare. It is an awesome car in its own right no mater what. Very fun to both ride in and drive....
