Default Devoe Chevy , Marion IN

Anybody know anything about this dealer in Indiana north of Indy? I am told John Brown or Bigdog are from that area. Maybe you guys can help me. Were they a hi/po dealer?

Ok, I'm awake.........

Never heard of Devoe Chevrolet before. Marion is about 100 miles south of us up here in the rust belt. We never had to go any farther than Gates Chevy to buy a Yenko or other hi-po parts.

The phone # is still good. It's now Barry Bunker Chevrolet.

I do remember the guys with the flower pot hats though.

Whip it, Whip it good!

Is there a drag strip in that area as well? Maybe an old drag strip that is now gone?

Marlin, there are two drag strips sorta close to Marion. There's one at Muncie and there is one at Bunker Hill. As far as I know they're still in operation. There use ta be a 1/8 mile strip at Avilla also but it's gone now. I set my first IHRA record at Avilla with a 57 Chevy 150 two door sedan, 220 hp with a three speed trans. 8.97 seconds @ 75.630 mph. Always did like that track.

You should spend some time at Bunker Hill dragway, there's supposed to be a '69 Yenko Nova still racing there that was sold new out of Nankivell Chev. in Indianapolis Take the vin list with you.
