Default Vintage 70 year old toolbox found

I found this in my late Grandfather's basement last year while going through his and my recently passed Grandmother's belongings. Ever the tinkerer, Grandpa Simon would repair anything in sight, whether it needed it or not. He was an amazing man and I got my pack-rat genes directly from his side of the family. This is a 1935 Lamson nut and bolt assortment. It is absolutely amazing when you look inside the little cardboard boxes. All of the nuts, bolts, washers, etc., are in pristine condition. You can't buy hardware like this anymore. As you can see the date codes on the boxes are all from 1935. It weighs about 75 pounds fully stocked. Anyone out there have any idea what this is worth so I can add it to my insurance policy? I'd love to bring it to one of those PBS-TV antique roadshows but I'd probably get a hernia trying to move it around.

Here's to you Grandpa

Awesome find and great story. You'll think the good thought everytime you use some of that hardware. It's amazing that the cardboard looks brand spankin' new.

I took possession of all of his old tools and use many of them working on my cars. I also have his old 429 powered, '71 Lincoln and my Grandmothers 75 Firebird.

That's amazing! Must have had some excellent storage conditions all these years. The cheap junk they make these days is getting surface rust on it by the time it's 6 months old.

Steve, vintage Hardware generally is sought after by Restoration people looking to keep an object with the times so to speak. Grandpa stored it for many years and did nothing with it. I suggest that now you took excellent photos of it and unless you have a big warehouse to store it, SELL!! a sideline of mine is Cleaning out Houses occasionally and it is tragic what people save for years and never use. only to Die and have the Family throw it all away. whatever you decide, I wish you the best with it as the one thing of Grandpa's you can never sell is Fond Memories.

Awesome find! Lamson & Sessions is still around though slightly changed in focus
http://www.lamson-sessions.com/

If you Google Lamson Fasteners you'll find a few historical articles popping up..
