There was a thread recently about some Corvettes given to Apollo astronauts. I just stumbled on some photos of one of the cars.
Here's the link. http://www.flickr.com/photos/christo...n/photostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/christo...n/photostream/ http://www.flickr.com/photos/christo...n/photostream/ ![]() John |

------I dont know how Grissoms car could have recieved an NCRS top flight as it is both a color and an interior color change and that is well known. Cant figure out why pricing on the car is anywhere near what I have heard either due to same........Bill S

I believe that the Grissom '67 has a restoration motor, also. I visited with the owner of the Alan Bean '69 last weekend and the providing of Corvettes stopped shortly after 1969, although many bought them personally. There was some flack about GM profiting off of the program by the one dollar a year lease. They thought that NASA was taking advantage of the program and getting free exposure. According to him, the Grisson Corvette was owned by him rather than a lease.

It's a shame, too. With the original trim tag and the factory paperwork the car has (tank sticker I believe), the value wouldn't have been hurt much at all without the original engine. The "killer on the car" is the replaced trim tag. You can't fake those. If the car had a restoration engine, but the original trim tag and a tank sticker with a nice restoration, it would be worth $300,000 to $400,000 with the famous ownership history. Bill, I may be right on that one, but that will all change when I get home tonight. My wife will put me in my place.........
