Default Year of manufacture plates

Alabama recently allowed us to register original plates on our cars. I registered my original plates on the 68 and 72 Novas just the other day. Are other states allowing this and what are the stipulations in those states. They issued me a sticker for mine and said they wouldn't need renewing. It cost me 12 bucks for the 68 and since I hadn't registered the 72 I had to pay a total of 54 for it which included the plate. I think they will look pretty cool on the cars since tags now are starting to get pretty ugly and lots of states are even putting dot coms on the plates...

Illinois recently added the same here too.
I can drive legally with these on,as long as I keep the newly issued Il. antique plates & registration in the car at all times. The law allows me to keep the renewal sticker on just the Il. antique plates too.

When I saw this unused plate in a license plate collection,it was a HAVETOHAVE for me,being as my car was sold new in Joplin,Mo.
The local police here still pull me over from time to time, but I just keep a copy of the Illinois law article which allows this,in my glovebox and hand it to the officer along w/my Il. Antique plates.
They always end up scratch'n their heads saying they had no idea it was legal now.

Ohio has a one time charge for antique plates , and if you register an Ohio year of manufacture plate, you can drive with it as long as the antique plate is in the car.
I've never seen an out of state plate, like the CA black plate, used in place of the OH tags.
I have seen a street rod with a '32 OH tag airbrushed on the trunk, and unless you're 3' away, you would think it was real. Legal, too. He's got the antique tags in his trunk.

Rick, I talked with a State Trooper about this and he reluctantly agreed it was true. I don't think they like to admit it though.

Do you recall the statute number, etc?

I still run my outdated "ORIGLS 6" plates but carry the AV plates with me. Rarely a problem as my mileage is limited these days. My 1970 plates aren't in very good shape, plus the number doesn't have much interest.

I am still smarting from the kicking I gave myself when New York approved the use of "vintage plates", two years earlier I had thrown out over 30 sets of plates from the sixties and seventies. you don't want to know what I paid for this plate on Peebay

I have a question regarding this topic. There are companies that
manufacture replacement license plates for our hobby.
I'm not sure of the particulars here, but I'm wondering if
you could have a plate made ( eg. 69-396 ) and register it
under this program?
