I’m a little surprised that this car has been discussed on this site for a number of months now and many of the important questions about it have yet to be brought up.
Is this an LS5/LS6/(LS7!)? Does it have its born-with motor (unlikely as March/70 is too early for this ’71)? Where are the pictures of the engine/trans stampings? Why have we never seen a picture of the tach? The car was represented on this site as having a Motion-installed overdrive yet there is no indication of this on the invoice. The tank sticker would answer some of these question as well as verifying its initial delivery to Baldwin. HP2 (Dale) assured us he would post a picture of the tank sticker… it has apparently been left on the tank and bolted back into place. BTW, the ebay ad says the tank was reattached by the former owner’s brother (Dale); then in answer to a question on the issue says it was done by “Corey”. ??? When asked for a picture of the POP, the response was, “its in the shot of the invoice”. Not exactly forthcoming, in my opinion. Where is the window sticker we were told existed? HP2 was clearly informed on this site that the best way to verify this car’s heritage was through Joel Rosen (I’m quite sure this would be one of his easier calls). This move would probably be the best investment the present owner could have made. Apparently, the sellers of this car intend to use the “original invoice” as the sole basis of the car’s legitimacy. I know it would take a lot more than the B/M invoice to convince me of the authenticity of this car. Does anyone know of any B/M documents that can be used for comparison purposes? BTW, I think the car is cool and could very well be real, but more should have been done to back up its legacy. We all know things are not always what they are represented to be. Witness the current ebay listing for a 1969 “documented” L88 Corvette, complete with AC, power windows, “original drivetrain”, etc. (I guess when you spend $175,000 on a restoration, they throw that stuff in with it!). |

Ron,
If you are interested in the car you should call the number in the ad. I'm sure that would answer many of your questions. Maybe the former owner had more than one brother. I too would like to know more history on the car but I am not a buyer. Maybe the new owner will be nice enough to share the history. Jason |

The present owner has posted about this car numerous times. My point is that these questions have not been voluntarily addressed in the past. There is often more to be discerned from what is NOT said than what is.

Point taken. The owner would come here, ask questions, then not reply to questions that were asked. I imagine the car is real. Maybe getting the letter from Joel is difficult since the estate does not want to pay the fee? The aluminum head thing is interesting. Why not start with a LS6 car? Were 71 LS6 Vettes available with A/C? I doubt it but am not sure.

Jason,
To my knowledge, no LS6 cars came with A/C; I was wondering if the car would have been turned into an LS6 or LS7 by Motion before selling it. Does it seem right that B/M would charge 12.5K for a car and not show the itemized costs for their enhancements? Do other B/M invoices follow this procedure? You are right about the aluminum head thing; no mention of 074s on the invoice. They wouldn’t have been stock on this A/C car. All the more reason Joel’s input would be invaluable (an investment that would reap immediate dividends); pretty hard to do an accurate restoration without the answer to these questions. Ray |

Also, weren’t there a few posts that claimed this invoice in question has an address for B/M that they actually were not at until sometime later than the date shown??
Can’t quite remember that detail and that particular thread has been deleted from the Supercar database. ![]() |
