Default A Full Weekend

Beautiful Fall Weekend in the Midwest and perfect weather for a number of events in our area. Friday thru Sunday was the Route 66 Festival in Springfield. We made the 50 mile trip to watch the Parade that kicks off the event. Don & Judi Stowers and Rick & Annie opted to join the parade and we hooked up with them afterward. Some random shots taken at around sunset. I had to ditch many of the shots because the lighting caused a bit of lag time in the camera and I got some 'partial' shots of the cars. Anyway, I guess a few is better than none so here we go.

And this was cool. Don, Jeff and I looked this over pretty well later in the evening. Appears to be real, and mostly original. Houndstooth RS/Z.

We chatted with these three for a while later in the evening. Three cool Ponchos!

And more......

Lighting got too bad to go any further with the parade shots.

We fully intended to go home early but decided at the last minute to tag in with the parade bunch and head downtown to stroll around. We parked about three blocks from the main group and met up with Stowers' and Rick & Ann. Forgot to bring the camera! When the crowd started to clear I brought the Nova up and parked next to Annie. THEN, walked around the corner and grabbed a few more shots.

RARE '71 Y Nova. (but a nice car)

Sweet '60 with a six banger.

And here's the Buick. This thing had all new chrome and stainless, and an LS powerplant. Made you , but cool all the same. Can you imagine what it costs to plate all this?

Talked with this owner for a while earlier in the evening (before I had the camera) Original owner L-78/M22 Leeds car out of Wisconsin. (Again, poor lighting. It's Yellow; not white.) He restored it a couple of years ago. Has the Buick interior like the DH Chevelle. VERY nice car!

This '61 was with the Chevelle. 348 TriPower 4 speed.

Time to crash for a while with the gang.

Cruise Nite in Jacksonville next. Stay tuned.
