Hi Pete,
Wish we had more time to visit at the PETERSEN CORVETTE RACE CAR TRIBUTE on Oct 23rd.

You need to ask Guldstrand about Len Butler's Gordon Wilson Chevrolet sponsored 66 L-88 Roadster. Mike Sepe restored the car in the mid 80's with fantastic photo history. The original transmission (a M-22 Rock Crusher) was still in the car when he bought it. It had Len's phone number in Salt Lake on the side cover. Mike called......and Mom answered. Mike asked the questions, and she said, "Well young Lenny works for a race car shop in Culver City, called Guldstrand Engineering."

As they say, the rest of the story is history. Mike purchased over 750 black and white photos from Mom that documented the cars history. Traco was very well involved as well as Gib Hufstader and his trench coat.

Mike sold the car due to a divorce in the early 90's. It was vintage raced 'hard' and crashed and is now in storage waiting to be rediscovered.

Jim,

I knew about that one also. Have a few photos but the pics that I have are in B/production SCCA trim. I asked Dick about that one ten years ago and he couldn't tell me too much. I have no doubt that it had an L88 in it at some point since the parts and the engines were available through the Chevrolet parts department. Development on the L88 continued into 1966 before its release a couple of months into 1967. Pete

Bob,

Thanks for the gracious offer, but unfortunately, the books are not scheduled to arrive until after Thanksgiving.

Maybe next show.

Pete

drumroll....

A change of plans; Pete has agreed to join us at Chevy Vettefest! You will be able to get a sneak-peek at his new book and get in your advance order.

Pete will be easy to find, just look for Kevin McKays 66 L88 Penske Racer right up front...I assure you, Pete won't be far away!

Bob,

I'm looking forward to being a part of your show. Don Yenko was a huge part of Chevrolet high performance and racing history and I'm honored to be with your group!

Anyone interested in having their car in a COPO/Yenko photo history book that is in the early stages right now??

Pete
