Default Anybody else ever experience this?

Was talking with a friend recently about a 68 L78 Camaro and this refreshed an item in my memory. About ten years ago there was a guy in our area who owned a Black 68 L78 Camaro hardtop. He purchased the car new in Montreal. He brought the car into my resto guy’s shop and had the engine shipped out to a local shop for breakdown and refresh. I think the mileage at that time was under 30K. The word came back from the engine shop that the car did not have a solid lifter setup. As mentioned, the owner bought it new and, according to him, the engine had never been messed with up until this time. He has long since moved away and I believe he sold the car before moving.

Anyone ever hear of a similar circumstance or did this just become a “fish story” by the time it was relayed to me
