This is the story of the number II prototype Fred Gibb Edition 5th Generation Camaro.
Number I was built (still a work in progress and yes we have your chrome wheels)for Nancy Gibb and features a Black on Gold theme, just like the original prototype. Number II has been commissioned by Bob & Nancy Lionberger. For those who don't know, Bob is the Gibb's former son in law. He and wife Nancy are not only family to Helen and Nancy Gibb, but they have been part of the sYc family for a long time. They have been involved with our hobby for years and Bob's roots go back to when he was a young boy and Fred Gibb took him to his very first Drag Race! Bob went on to work for Fred and became very close to him and the rest of the family. If your ever wanting to hear some cool and interesting stories about Fred Gibb, then you need to pin Bob down for awhile. We had been working on ideas for the New Fred Gibb Camaros and we thank the sYc/Tom Clary, as well as other individual members who helped us put it all together, especially Helen and Nancy Gibb. We introduced our concept via the professional renderings drawn for us by noted artist, John McBride. The concept was introduced at the Fred Gibb Memorial Car show, in La Harpe Il this past August of 2009. Helen was asked for her approval before we unveiled the renderings to the public. We were on pins and needles hoping to meet with her approval. We decided to use GMs Red Jewel tint coat color as which seemed to be very reminicent of the Fred Gibb Candy Apple Red painted, vintage race cars. We also used the gold striping, as this is also another styling que used by Gibb, back in the day. It also seems that Fred favored chrome 5 spoke mag style wheels, so we incorporated those too. Here are the renderings of the new Fred Gibb Camaros. ![]() ![]() ![]() |
