I did a lot of research on the 1967 Yenko Camaros.
I believe Don had some shipped from Chevy to a storage building in East St Louis near where Dick Harell had a small shop. I think 20 to 30 Camaros were sent there. Howard Sober Inc was used for shipping and they had a terminal in East St Louis in this same area They may have been shipped by rail from Chevy as there are rail yards in this area. Dick Harrell was sending the conversion paperwork to Yenko and it got saved in the old Yenko files later found by Warren D. Many of these cars were special order or fleet orders with the "dash" trim tag Not all of the cars were converted as at least one 1967 SS 375hp Camaro was sold by Yenko Chevy and the new owner went to pick it up at a St Louis storage facility well after the 1968 Camaros were on the lot. When I looked through Warren's paperwork, it showed most of the St Louis cars had 427 conversion, headers, scattershield, gauges, traction bars, hood pins, High Temp ign. wires installed . Not many had fiberglass hoods installed. Maybe this car was sent to Yenko Chev from the St. Louis storage facility? would be interesting to compare the trim tag data with other known Yenko Camaros. |
