I would bet a hot rod engine and 4-speed was installed by somebody later on. Do you have anything showing the original CA license plate number for the car?

I would think so to, but its also got things that would signify a Dana car. And as the Original owner stated he bought it brand new with the engine and 4 speed already installed. I forgot to include, it does have the numbers matching axel with 3.73s and a posi. (Cant remember the code off the top of my head) but as I said its a mystery. At this point though the original owner has no reason to lie about it. Considering they won't even respond to my messages other than giving me the information that it was brand new with the L88.
