Default Trailer brakes

I'll be bringing a car to SCR-24 in 10 days and noticed the brakes didn't help much the last few times I used it. I pulled the right side wheels and drums and found the front brake wires broken at the backing plate.

Aside from the obvious fact I have been over greasing the bearings, I had to dig thru the grease to find the broken wires for the rear one too...

Welp, that's 2 out of 4 already, I didn't even pull the left side apart.

I hate cleaning up messes like this and my parts washer is STILL in a storage locker. I went in the house and looked up Northern Tool for new shoes and seals. I can buy all new shoes for $220 OR 4 new, complete, backing plates with EVERYTHING new for $330....that's like a major no-brainer, as the saying goes. I pick them, and the seals, up tomorrow morning on my way to work. They are even on the same road...
I'll still have to clean up the drums, but I can handle that.
