Default Build Sheet: "STATEMENT OF ACCEPTANCE BY CARRIER"

Was scrutinizing a build sheet today for a 70 'velle L78, Atlanta (yes, Mr70 copy is inbound tomorrow). In the lower right section there is the statement:

"STATEMENT OF ACCEPTANCE BY CARRIER
The undersigned carrier receives and accepts for
transportation the new automobile described here-
on, in good order, to be delivered in accordance
with the terms and conditions of its contract with
General Motors Corporation (GM Assembly Division)."

"SIGNED FOR:

DATE_____________BY__________________________"

My impression was that BSs were used by assembly line workers for the purposes of correctly assembling the car according to order. They were then either tossed or ended up in door panels, under carpet, inside seats, etc. The above block would infer that the carrier was to sign for the described car. Has anyone seen a BS that was actually signed for by a carrier? I have not.
