Steve, the Kinney Chevrolet building was on Rt. 25 just west of 105. Was that O'keefe in the 60's ? I know a guy who worked at a Chevy dealer in Rvhd then, he owns the dealership by me now.

I think it's very possible that it's the same building. I don't know when O'Keefe closed, but the original owner of our 68 L72 Z24 Impala purchased it at O'Keefe in Dec. 1967. Window sticker/Invoice just says E. Main Street, Rt 25.
Steve

This ad is from the NY Times. Kinny does have ads from Bklyn in mid 60's, did'nt see any Kinny from Riverhead in the 60's. The paper does show an Okeefe Chev-Olds dealer on East Main st on rt 25 in 1965.

Mark, where do you come up with this stuff? I thought my mother was the only person saving old New York Times

My father had a paper route when he was a kid and saved an extra paper every day since 1943. He has them stacked so high in the house that he went for a week without seeing my mother one time. Just kidding.
The library has a database which you can view copies of the New York Times since 1851 which you can access from home. Very easy to use if your library has it. |
