I believe it can be looked up just as asked.............chevy orange. Be sure to use epoxy primer underneath in order to deal with the heat. It was my understanding the purpose built spray bombs have some different resins and ceramics to deal with the heat.

On the CRG recently someone had the color matched on a BB and the color match on the BB came out as hugger orange, they then knocked the gloss down a little.
The most effective way I have found when painting an engine is to limit the amount of paint, protection and color is all you want, the thin coating dissipates heat best without causing it to flake off.

I have used Plastikote Chevy Orange before with great results, excellent color match and great durability.
My brother really likes Seymour's HI-TECH ENGINE COATING - CHEVY ORANGE. He tested it in his oven to 500 degrees and it did not discolor, whereas the Plastikote did. Either one has a great match to the original orange. As mentioned above a nice high temp primer is of big help and even a splash of metal prep before that would also help with a bare block. This is the engine in my 69 Malibu, I painted it with Plastikote 15 years ago and there is about 8000 miles on it. The photograph does not depict the orange properly, but does give you an idea of durability. Phil Woj. ![]() |

I have had great success with the eastwood ceramic high temp engine paints. easy to apply and last a very long time and cleans off crime with a simple wipe

Someone on this site mentioned that NCRS considers the Seymour HI-TECH ENGINE COATING - CHEVY ORANGE to be the only acceptable orange for late '60's Chevy?

It can be mixed in Nason enamel, and you have to use the hardner. There enamel will not dry without it.
