would they have cut the 4 speed hole like that on a console car? Dosent look factory to me??

Yes. Most of the Pontiac built cars look like they were cut with an axe.

I'm not suggesting this is the case here, but we built a pickup truck one time that was a four speed trans but didn't have the floor cut out in the cab. We didn't notice the mistake until body drop.

My repair man chopped the hole in the floor with a hammer and chisel - while the line was still running and the cab was teetering unsecured on the chassis.
