my dad i recently acquired a new 69 z28 for our collection. this car was stored since 1973. with the last forgotten 25 years in a storage unit in southern california. it was parked with just 24k miles on the odometer. the original owner was moving out of state and almost forgot it was there. he sold it to a fellow in san diego. over the next year, that fellow cleaned and reassembled the car to driving condition preserving every piece and part. the original owner modified the car slightly when new. he ran a 4:56 rear, koni shocks on all 4 corners, slapper bars, headers, mallory ignition and a fuel pressure gauge. being a young engineer, he was a very detailed individual and had the foresight to save every part he changed out on the car!! even the section of exhaust tubing that was removed to install the headers. when it was put into storage, the top end of the motor was off leaving the short block exposed to who knows what. so out of caution, the motor was disassembled, cleaned and reassembled with new rings and gaskets but preserving all the original paint and factory markings.
the car is an early build out of the van nuys plant. the trim tag is 12C. it was ordered in rally green with stand black interior. additional options above and beyond the z28 package were a center console, gauge pack, and power steering. for documentation, the car still retains the original window sticker, POP, original title copy, body broadcast sheet, chassis broadcast sheet, and the tank sticker is still attached to the the original tank. the paint on the car is all original, along with the interior. here are a few pictures of it as found |
