Thanks for imfo ,but it not the right code because all Chevrolet Dealer codes are 3 digits and all zones are 2 digits. What you have is Joel Rosen's Dealer #. If you notice that Dealer # is attached to the name Baldwin Auto Company Inc.and not Baldwin Chevrolet which is 3 digits. I assume that Baldwin Auto Company is the legal and trade joel used for Baldwin Motion.Remenber Baldwin Chevrolet was where Joel received his cars from prior I think to 1972,so that is why I need a three digit #.I have a build sheet from one of his cars. Thanks Dan

I have Zone 27 Dealer 787 in my notes but not 100 per cent sure it is correct. There are some fake Baldwin documents going around.

Thanks Joe c but I Don't think the 3 digit # is right since I just found out from a very reliable source, which I promised I would not mention the source, that the 3 digit # is dealer code 327 and zone 27 and 1 for Chevrolet.

The correct code is zone 27 dealer 019. This is from a window sticker of a Fathom Green 1969 Z-28 sold new at Baldwin Chevrolet.
The actual name from the window sticker is: Baldwin Auto Company Inc Merrick & Central Ave Baldwin NY This is the actual legal name for Baldwin Chevrolet. To the best of my knowledge, Joel Rosen never had a Chevrolet dealership or Chevy dealer number. The Motion cars were sold new through Baldwin Chevrolet just like any non Motion car and they would all have the same dealer and zone #'s. The zone and dealer #'s have changed over the years, I am not sure if Baldwin's ever changed. [Edited by COPO (04-13-2001 at 11:07 AM).] |

Thanks Copo, but I think your wrong.I have an 1968 Chevy II Nova ss396 375hp 4spd car that I bought from Stockon,Ca.and found the build sheet in that car and the Dealer code on the sheet is 032 with date of 7/3/68 07A.Car was bought from Chase Chevrolet in Stockton Ca.Another 1968 Chevy II Nova 307 2spd powerglide I own ,which I bought from Ct. had build sheet in it also.It read 367 Dealer code on build sheet with date of 7/18/68 07C.Car was bought at Henderson Chevrolet Stratford Ct.I have protecto plate on this one.Third is another 1968 Chevy II Nova ss 396 4spd which I bought out of Pa. I also found a build sheet in that one and the Dealer code read 327 ( Baldwin Chevrolet, verified) with date 7/3/68 07A.I have another 1968 Chevy II Nova ss 396 375 hp 4spd with dealer code ? bought from Reedmens Chevrolet Pa. 07C build date and this car I owned back in 1978 and know the 2nd owner ,which is who I bought it from, makeing me the third . We know who the original owner is. Now do you notice Dealer codes on west coast verses east coast, west had a 0 as the firsted digit on 1968 build sheets.

Dan,
The zone and dealer codes I posted for Baldwin Chevrolet are taken from an orignal window sticker of a '69 Z-28 there is no question about the correctness. I have 100+ buildsheets and window stickers from various Chev. muscle cars. All zone codes are 2 digits and all dealer codes are 3 digits. The use of zero's as the first digit in the dealer number has nothing to do with the location of the dealership geographically. Here are 2 eastern examples that don't fit your theory: Benson Chevrolet Roswell, Ga Zone 08, Dealer 036 '70 LS-6 Chevelle Buildsheet Joe Bokeman Chevrolet, Inc Buffalo, NY Zone 12, dealer 049 '70 LS-6 Chevelle buildsheet Here's a western one that doesn't fit your theory. Smoak Chevrolet Farmington, NM Zone 10, dealer 775 '70 LS-6 Chevelle buildsheet I could go on, but it should be clear. fyi, Reedman Chevrolet in Langhorne, PA is zone 15, dealer 546. |
