A friend of the guy I bought my COPO from, has a 1968 L79 Corvette. It looks totally stock and has a cast iron intake.

The only '68 L79 325 hp Chevelle that I ever saw had the cast iron intake and quadrajet carb. Looked like a 327 275 hp engine but was quicker than a friend's '69 L34 Chevelle. They were the sleeper of '68.

That's correct. Chrome valve covers, also for 1968. The 1969 350/350 was the same set-up. Cast iron, Q-jet, but with aluminum valve covers.

One more difference between the '68 Corvette 327/300 and the L79 327/350 is that the L79 has a chrome oil fill cap the the base engine cap is painted. The two stamp pad codes are HT and HP. I have an HP, which is 4-speed, A/C, P/S and manual brakes. HT is non-A/C, 4-speed.

When I lived in Burlington,Ia a buddy of mine had a 68 325hp 327 Chevelle Fathom blue bench seat car enclosed is a picture of the air cleaner. This is the only thing left of the car.

My 68 L79 Nova came with a cast iron intake and Quadrajet carb. The carb was changed somewhere along the line to a Holley. Kim, let me know if you want to part with that air cleaner assembly as that was missing (among other things) when I got the car.
