Default Re: What is Considered a Day 2 Car?

A Day-2 car is a old car with modifications that would be done the "second day" of owning the car. Arguably the most common day-2 mod is to take off the exhaust manifolds/smog (if need be) and bolt on a set of headers. Hooker, Kustom, Hedmans... Other modifications include wheels... Cragars, T.T., Fenton, Ansen, etc. Vintage Tach... Stewart Warner, Dixco, Sun. Traction Bars... E/T, Lakewood. One of the most over sited items of day-2 trim, the bias ply tires... Mickey Thompson Indy Profile, with Wide Ovals or Polyglas GTs. Maybe some Drag 500s or Blue Streaks... I too have forgotten very this important aspect. Other day-2 trim items include Flex Flan, Glitter Steering wheel, Cal Custom Valve Covers (finned for that matter). Decals, tons of decals and the list continues for a long while.

Look at SC69Sam Scardino's 1969 Camaro Z28 for an effective study of the day-2 style trim. His Sweet Ride was just featured in the "Member's Rides Section". Hope this helps.
