Canadian smog laws closely followed those of the US. The '69 and '70 L78 cars would have had the AIR pump.

It was determined that all L88 Corvettes in '68 and '69 that went to Canada had all smog equipment intact when delivered. Neither NCRS or Bloomington will listen to an argument from an owner stating that their '68 or '69 L88 was build without a smog pump.

We don't need no steenking smog in Canada. Seriously, though, I don't know if it would've been standard equipment on a car sold new in Alberta. The factory block heater is still there though! Later in the evening as I was checking out the car back under the outside tents and starting to feel buyer's regret, the seller showed up. Then out of nowhere, the guy who found and restored the car in the 80's (Les Long) shows up! Car was sold new in Alberta, has GM of Canada docs, was found in Ontario. Original Hugger Orange car, was flat black when found. Drivetrain is the "born with" drivetrain, fenders and quarters were replaced with GM pieces. Only changes were the addition of a cowl hood and no hole in the fender for the AM radio antenna. 40K mile Hugger Orange white interior L78/TH400 car, rust-free, bondo-free, straight, clean, fires up instantly and sounds great! |
