When we first moved into the house going back 11-12 years the garage door would squeak pretty bad going up and down. Always thought it needed more grease and some oil that’s all. One day as we're about to Corvette out, the garage door, while ascending, fell off its track, because the squeaking was actually metal on metal contact. The track rusted right through. Luckily, the door did not fall on the cars otherwise the Coupe and an M3 BMW would have been toast. Now, yearly doctor appointments for the garage door insure its prime working condition. Not something to joke about!

I think they have a mechanism at any local Home Depot that its a wire that goes through the spring and prevents it from snapping off and on to your car like mentioned. George
