Default Re: SCR10 Pics and VIDEOS!!

It’s been a few days since I returned from SCR 10 and I, like all of you, have been reading the posts as well as looking at the pictures and videos. This was my second time attending an SCR event and partaking in the festivities. Over the years I have attended and participated in a number of car events but none of them compare to the fun and excitement that comes with the SCR. There is something so special about this event that beats all the others hands down. The cars that are in the event are some of the coolest rides around but it something more than the cars. We all share a common interest with our love and fascination with muscle cars. That’s the common bond, but it’s the people that make this event the best around and make it what it really is.

There really are a bunch of great people in this club and as in life; there are some not so great people as well. When people find out I'll do 1600+ mile round trip car event they look at me like I'm nuts but they just don't understand that it transcends beyond the car thing and it becomes more of a people thing. I was reading a post today while taking a break from work and someone wrote something to the effect "that you could feel it in the air" and truer words could not be spoken. Last year when Hasset's 68 broke the axle I was amazed how many people pitched in and helped with it. Within 3 hours it was fixed and driven into the show area. It just goes to show just exactly what the writer of that post was talking about and what I am referring to about “the people”. I will go the extra mile, literally, and then some to be a part of a group that operates the way this one does. I dig muscle cars in a big big way but I also like people who are real, caring and not always in it for the $'s. Another example of this is the outpouring of support that Bruce has received at this time. If you have never been to an SCR please take the time to do so and you will see first hand what has been described over these 30 + pages and you will experience that “special feeling that’s in the air”.

There are a countless number of people who work very hard to pull this event off. To each of those I say “Thank You very much for your hard work and dedication to the hobby. It is very much appreciated”. I have met some very cool individuals through this site and it is a pleasure to meet them face to face at the SCR. To be able to spend a day hanging out at the track whether you are watching or racing and then spend the next day looking over some of the rarest of the rare is something special but then you mix in the cast of characters that make up this site, you just can’t beat this event. Spending the day racing is a blast and for those who haven’t done it before it really is pretty easy, intimidating at first but there are people there who can help you walk through it. I know on my last pass going up against some green Chevelle I was having the most fun I have had in a long long while as we headed down the track with our feet to the floor and our engines screaming. This event has been going on for 10 years now and I for one hope to see it continue on in the future well beyond SCR 11. One of the highlights of the trip for me occurred when I was heading out last week with the trailer in tow. I was crossing through the mountains in Maryland and happened to going around a bend when all of a sudden a 250 pound Black Bear appeared in the middle of the highway about 200 feet in front of me. I knew at that point this trip was going to be a fun and special one.

I enjoyed catching up with the friends I have made in the past as well as meeting some new ones this year as well. Here’s to you all

Tom

Hey now Tom...that's one of my shots with Annie.

I wasn't taking a tail light shot of her...well not on purpose

I don't think Annie minded me taking that shot

I'm not sure what's funnier the head lights, tail light, or the saying on the front of the car. Sorry I couldn't resist
