Reynolds, Chevrolet made two prototype 70 Monte Carlo convertibles. They WERE NOT SS cars however. Once decided they would no produce the cars for the general public, they were destroyed.

This particular car was built by a friend of mine in Bloominton, MN. It is likely one of the best conversions I have ever seen and unless you really knew what to look for, you would have a hard time proving it. Even the rear seat and side panels were convertible items that were recovered in the Monte theme. Beautiful car but I never thought it would bring $26,500.

B/J advertised it as being one of the actual cars in the Chevrolet brochure........not! Unless that was just my interpretation.

The Monte Carlo Convert is a home made car.The factory never made them.
SS427 here knows more about this car.He knows the designer.
Is that 427 COPO wood paneled Station Wagon there this year? Did it sell?
I wish I had SpeedVision......

You can watch it live at www.barrett-jackson.com/ibid/default.asp Give it time to load. There current car will be displayed on the left. It updates the bidding live. That's how I watched last night after Speedvision quit televising.

#647 1970 Chevelle L-78 Convertible is goes across the block in about 1/2 hour. Could be interesting.

#663 1970 Chevelle LS-6 convertible likely in about 1 1/2 hours.
